Tours (France), April 2, 2025 (SPS) – The international freedom march demanding the release of Sahrawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails, led by Claude Mangin, the wife of Sahrawi political prisoner Namaa Asfari (a member of the Gdeim Izik group), has arrived in Tours, located 240 km south of the French capital, Paris.
Tours marks the first stop on a route that will pass through several French and Spanish cities to raise awareness about the plight of Sahrawi political prisoners, mobilize solidarity, and stand by them in their ordeal. The march will ultimately head to Kenitra, where Namaa Asfari and other Sahrawi political prisoners are held in the central prison.
In a statement to National Television, Claude Mangin expressed satisfaction with the march's progress, highlighting the positive engagement of media and press—especially as coverage of the Sahrawi issue has begun to reflect a more balanced and independent perspective, contrasting with France's shameful official stance in support of the occupation. She emphasized the need to expose double standards and hypocritical policies employed by global powers, particularly France, in their handling of the Sahrawi cause.
