Montevideo, 2 March 2025 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Brahim Ghali, held several meetings with members of the solidarity movement with the Sahrawi people in Latin America and the Caribbean, during his stay in Uruguay, where he attended the inauguration ceremony of Uruguay's new President, Mr. Yamandú Orsi, alongside other heads of state and government.
The Sahrawi leader met with members of the International São Paulo Forum, represented by its regional section for Latin America and the Caribbean, which also attended the inauguration ceremony of the new President of Uruguay, Mr. Yamandú Orsi.
President Ghali also received Mrs. Florencia Salguero, President of the Uruguayan Association of Solidarity with the Sahrawi Republic, who presented a report on the activities carried out by the Committee during the past period and outlined the prospects for its future work.
The Sahrawi President expressed his gratitude, on behalf of the Sahrawi people, for the immense solidarity demonstrated by the solidarity movement in Latin America and the Caribbean in support of the Sahrawi cause. He emphasized that this solidarity has shown it will continue and strengthen until the culmination of the Sahrawi people's struggle, with the realization of the sovereignty of the Sahrawi Republic over its entire national territory.
