
Windhoek (Namibia), March 1, 2025 (SPS) - Mr. Hamma Salama, member of the National Secretariat, President of the National Council, representing the President of the Republic and Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, participated on Saturday in the funeral of former Namibian President Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma. The funeral was held at the Heroes' Acre in the Namibian capital, Windhoek, and was attended by several heads of state and delegations friendly to Namibia.
The newly elected President, Ms. Nandi Ndaitwah, delivered a speech highlighting the virtues and the struggle of the late President, who was the leader and founder of the SWAPO movement, which led the armed struggle against the apartheid regime until Namibia achieved full independence.
The late President is also considered the founding father of the Namibian state. The newly elected President outlined the features of Namibia's foreign policy, reaffirming her country's support for the just struggle of the Sahrawi people and its right to freedom and independence.
On the sidelines of the event, the President of the Sahrawi National Council held meetings with the interim Namibian President, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other leaders of this friendly country, as well as with several delegations participating in the funeral of this African leader, who left his mark on the history of the struggle for freedom and independence in Africa and the world.
Besides the President of the National Council, the Ambassador of the Sahrawi Republic to Namibia and Angola, Mr. Hamdi Khalil Mayara, also attended the funeral.
