Colombian President receives ambassador assigned to Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Bogotá (Colombia), February 28, 2025 (SPS) - President Gustavo Petro of the Republic of Colombia received the ambassador assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Zroug, at the National Center for the Arts in the capital, Bogotá.

During the meeting, the Sahrawi diplomat conveyed to President Gustavo the greetings of the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, reaffirming his determination to strengthen and enhance the strong and solid relations with the Republic of Colombia.

Ambassador Mohamed Zroug praised the pioneering and pivotal role Colombia has gained on the international stage, commending the wise and insightful vision of President Gustavo Petro towards the African continent, which is based on dialogue with all member states of the African Union. This vision forms the cornerstone of Colombia's 2022-2026 Africa strategy, aimed at opposing colonialism and racism and supporting the right of peoples to self-determination.

The Sahrawi ambassador also commended Colombia's rotating presidency of the Latin American and Caribbean Group and its legitimate aspirations to join the Security Council as a supportive voice for the Global South.
