Smara (Refugee Camps), 27 February 2025 (SPS) - Khatri Addouh, a member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and Minister of Education and Vocational Training, stated on Thursday at the Smara refugee camp that "the Sahrawi people are commemorating the 49th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) with a determination to continue their struggle, using all means to establish its sovereignty over its entire territory."

Speaking to APS on the sidelines of the celebrations marking the 49th anniversary of the proclamation of the SADR, themed "Loyalty to National Sovereignty," Mr. Khatri emphasized that "the Sahrawi people have demonstrated, through these celebrations, its unwavering determination, which reflects a strong attachment to its legitimate rights, self-determination, freedom, independence, and the extension of the SADR's sovereignty over its entire national territory."

He added: "The Sahrawi people have achieved numerous gains, including the international consensus on its right to self-determination and independence. However, the Moroccan occupier and its allies are attempting to undermine these gains through hostile declarations and positions, in violation of international law, by supporting the occupier and its policies through organizing visits to the occupied territories of the SADR."

The member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front stressed that "these condemnable acts aim to rescue the occupier in its final moments, to breathe new life into its expansionist policies in the region. The Sahrawi people, supported by other militant peoples and forces for peace and justice, are determined to continue the struggle to counter the ideology and policies of aggression and expansion at the expense of peoples."

The commemorative celebrations of the 49th anniversary of the proclamation of the SADR were launched at the Smara refugee camp, attended by foreign delegations in solidarity with the Sahrawi cause, with over 400 participants from 32 countries.
