Shaheed El Hafed, February 26, 2025 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, affirmed that the Sahrawi Republic has forged its path with determination and steadfastness towards its deserved status, despite the fierce war waged by the Moroccan occupying state.
In his address to the Sahrawi people, broadcast live on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, President Brahim Ghali stated, "Forty-nine years since the establishment of the Sahrawi state reflect a shining and undeniable reality that deepens and solidifies every day. This reality is that the historic declaration on February 27, 1976, has tangibly and permanently embodied the will of the Sahrawi people—both men and women—to achieve liberation, emancipation, and the right to live in freedom, dignity, and sovereignty over its entire national territory."
He added, "These forty-nine years represent the life of a young state that has carved its path with resolve and steadfastness amidst a harsh and bitter situation, challenging the impossible, and skillfully combining the missions of liberation and construction, despite the circumstances of the unjust and fierce war waged by the Moroccan occupying state.
"Forty-nine years," the President of the Republic said, "are also a rich legacy of sacrifice and giving—through blood, sweat, tears, and suffering—by a heroic and noble people who, with awareness, conviction, and faith, chose the path of struggle, resistance, perseverance, and steadfastness to reclaim their legitimate rights."
President Brahim Ghali pointed out that the Sahrawi Republic, a founding member of the African Union, today enjoys extensive relations across all continents. It is building its distinctive experience through its legislative, executive, and judicial institutions and managing its public affairs with a experienced national administration across various sectors and fields. It ensures the provision of basic services and essential needs, despite the situation of war, displacement, and exile.
The President of the Republic emphasized that this occasion should not pass without paying tribute and respect to the martyrs of the national cause, who laid the groundwork for building this great edifice, foremost among them the founding leader, the martyr of freedom and dignity, El-Wali Mustafa Sayed, and the martyr president, Mohamed Abdelaziz.
