Shaheed Al-Hafed, 22 February 2025 (SPS) – The Minister of Culture, Moussa Selma, has called on artists and poets to make culture a true front for advocating the Sahrawi cause.

In a message addressed to Sahrawi artists and poets in the diaspora on the occasion of their third general gathering, Moussa Selma stated that "the current situation demands, more than ever, making culture a true front for defending our national cause, a weapon to confront attempts at falsification, and a bridge to reach the conscience of the world."

The Minister of Culture described the message of the artists and poets as "a cry of truth that disturbs the Moroccan occupation, exposes its false narrative, and affirms to the world that our people remain steadfast in their identity, culture, and legitimate right to self-determination."

He emphasized that the challenge today, in the face of attempts to erase Sahrawi identity, lies in all forms of art—theater, music, poetry, visual arts, and cinema—to "raise the banner of struggle with a distinctive voice and creative performance, using the tools of art and creativity required."

The Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Culture to support artists and poets in the diaspora, calling for greater solidarity and coordination, and for the building of a unified cultural front that "loudly proclaims that Sahrawi culture will remain indomitable, and that Sahrawi art will continue to stand tall, rebellious, and resistant, until victory and liberation are achieved."
