Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), February 12, 2025 (SPS) - The 46th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union commenced today, Wednesday, in Addis Ababa, in preparation for the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the continental body scheduled for February 15 and 16.
The delegation representing the Sahrawi Republic at this two-day session is headed by the Minister Counselor at the Presidency for Diplomatic Affairs and National Secretariat member, Mohamed Salem Ould Salek.
The agenda for this session includes several issues related to joint African work, such as discussing annual reports on the activities of the continental organization and its various bodies, electing members of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, electing six commissioners for the African Union, completing the legal framework for the African Continental Free Trade Area, and approving the statute for the African Mechanism for Disaster Preparedness and Response.
