Sahrawi Republic participates in second annual meeting of defense ministers

Cairo (Egypt), February 1, 2025 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Republic participated in the second annual meeting of defense ministers, held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

During the meeting, the Chief of Operations at the Ministry of National Defense, Taleb Ami Deih, who heads the Sahrawi delegation, delivered a speech welcoming the participating delegations from member countries and expressed his gratitude to the Arab Republic of Egypt for their warm reception and generous hospitality.

He conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Mr. Brahim Ghali, President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and through him to the Egyptian people and their brave army, congratulating the Arab Republic of Egypt on assuming the rotating presidency of the North African capacity.

He praised the leading role played by the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria during its previous presidency of the North African capacity and the directives issued by Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of Algeria, during the sixth biannual coordination summit of the African Union, held on July 21, 2024, in Ghana, regarding the review of the strategic concept of the African Standby Force.

Taleb Ami Deih commended the tremendous work carried out by the Executive Secretariat and the planning team, and thanked the experts from member states for their efforts and work to ensure the success of the meetings, as well as for the important proposals and recommendations that would enhance the North African capacity within the African Standby Force.

The Sahrawi Republic also participated in the 13th meeting of Chiefs of Staff and the 16th meeting of North African capacity experts.
