Algiers, December 30, 2024 (SPS) - Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, has affirmed that any solution to the Western Sahara issue that contradicts the decolonization process remains merely a myth.

During a press conference in Algiers to present the results of Algerian diplomacy for the year 2024, Ahmed Attaf stated, "We affirm that any formula for a solution to the Western Sahara issue that contradicts the decolonization process is a myth, such as the autonomy proposal."

The Algerian Foreign Minister added that the Sahrawi people are the masters of their inalienable right, and the Moroccan occupation is an illegitimate and fully-fledged occupation.

Regarding his country's stance on the Sahrawi issue, Minister Ahmed Attaf noted that Algeria's position on the Western Sahara issue derives its strength and validity from historical constants that cannot be misrepresented, as it is a decolonization case that has not been fully resolved.

In this context, the head of Algerian diplomacy clarified that Algeria dedicates its tenure at the United Nations Security Council to support just causes, foremost among them the Palestinian issue and the Western Sahara issue.
