Shaheed Al-Hafed, December 28, 2024 (SPS) - The media community commemorated National Media Day today, Saturday, at the Media Archive headquarters, in presence of National Secretariat member, Prime Minister, Bushraya Hamoudi Beyoun.
The Day began with a speech by Minister of Information Hamada Salma, read on his behalf by the ministry's Secretary-General. In his speech, he congratulated the media community and emphasized its continued role in supporting the liberation and construction struggle, as well as confronting the fierce Moroccan media war.
The minister addressed the importance of training and developing media skills, along with ongoing education to achieve a well-rounded journalist equipped with modern techniques.
He praised the role of partner organizations in diversifying media discourse and providing programs and sessions aimed at informing the public about the achievements and gains of the Sahrawi state in the face of the Moroccan destruction machine.
The Minister of Information highlighted the "efforts of media teams in the occupied territories and the particular efforts of some journalists on social media platforms, who have become targets of arrest, harassment, and blackmail due to their documentation of the Moroccan occupation's gross violations of human rights in the occupied territories. Their critical role is also in enlightening Moroccan public opinion, particularly regarding the legal and legitimate nature of our struggle against the Moroccan occupation."
The event featured a video presentation on the history and development of national media, awards for ministry directorates along with some employees and trainees from the media institute, followed by a lecture on artificial intelligence (its definition, history, fields, applications, advantages and disadvantages, ways to benefit from it, and its future).
The event concluded with a speech by Prime Minister Bushraya Hamoudi Beyoun.
