Algeria, December 15, 2024 (SPS) - The Algerian Red Crescent signed a cooperation and partnership agreement with the Danish company Novo Nordisk to provide medication and treatment for diabetic patients in Sahrawi refugee camps.
The agreement was signed at the Danish Embassy in Algiers by Dr. Ibtisam Hamlaoui, President of the Algerian Red Crescent, and Hamza Ben Harakat, General Director of Novo Nordisk, aimed at meeting the health needs of Sahrawi refugees.
The signing ceremony was attended by Catherine Frum, the Danish Ambassador to Algeria; Habiba Khairour, Director of Humanitarian Affairs at the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Farid Boufafouf, Deputy Director of Studies, Research, and Analysis at the Ministry of Health; Alistair Bolton, Head of the UNHCR in Algeria; and Bouhabini Yahya, President of the Sahrawi Red Crescent.
The agreement aims to deliver anti-diabetic medications to Sahrawi refugee camps and ensure healthcare for them.
Novo Nordisk is considered a leading company in the production of diabetes medications.
