Oe-Cusee (Timor-Leste) 28 November 2024 (SPS) - The Ambassador of the Saharawi Republic (SADR), Mr. Abba Malainin attended today in the City of Oe-Cusee, the commemorations of the 49th, Anniversary of the proclamation of the Independence of Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste that was on November 28th, 1975.
This event marks a significant moment in the country's history for its full independence, which was achieved after 24 years of liberation Struggle through a UN organized and supervised referendum on 30 August 1999 where the majority of the Timorese people voted for the Independence.
Timor-Leste's official day of Independence was declared on 20th, May 2002.
The official commemorations of the proclamation of the independence day was attended by the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, H.E. Dr. Jose Ramos Horta, the Timorese government, parliament, the Diplomatic Corps and many distinguished foreign Guests from different countries.
