Harare (Zimbabwe) - The Foreign Relations Secretary of Zimbabwe's ruling party, the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF), Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, reaffirmed his country's support for the Sahrawi people's just struggle for self-determination, freedom and independence.
Mr. Mumbengegwi, during a reception for the Ambassador of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic in Harare, Mr. Wali Moussa, on Friday at the party headquarters, emphasized his party and country's unwavering support for the Western Sahara people's struggle to complete the decolonization process and live in dignity under national independence, in accordance with the resolutions and charters of international legality on the Sahrawi issue.
In this context, the Zimbabwean official noted the level of bilateral relations between his party and the Polisario Front, which is considered the sole legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people.
For his part, the Sahrawi Ambassador "appreciated the strength and steadfastness of the historical position of the ZANU-PF party towards the right of the Sahrawi people to freedom and independence", highlighting the shared historical ties between the peoples of the two countries in rejecting all forms of foreign colonialism.
The Sahrawi diplomat affirmed that the relations between the two countries "witness a distinguished level on all levels and record a convergence of views on a large number of regional, continental and international issues and files".
The meeting was an opportunity for the Sahrawi Ambassador to inform the ZANU-PF official about the latest developments in the Sahrawi issue at the international and continental levels.
