Shaheed El Hafed, April 7, 2024 (SPS) - The Council of Ministers strongly condemned the position expressed by the occupying state following its recent reception of Mr. Staffan de Mistura, in which it renewed its evasion of the commitments it signed with the Sahrawi party in 1991 within the settlement plan aimed at resolving the colonial issue in Western Sahara through the exercise of the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination via the referendum organized by the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO).
During its meeting on Sunday, the Council called on the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities in confronting the policy of aggression and escalation pursued by the Moroccan occupying state, especially since its violation and annulment of the ceasefire agreement on November 13, 2020, which further fuels tension and threatens peace, security, and stability in the entire region.
The Council reaffirmed the responsibility of the Spanish state towards the Sahrawi people and the international community as a whole, considering it the administering power that cannot evade its responsibilities unilaterally.
