Dublin (Ireland), November 2, 2023 (SPS) - The representative of the Irish Parliament from the Sinn Féin Party, Mr. Chris Andrews, affirmed his support for the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and his readiness to defend this right in national forums during his reception of the representative of the Polisario Front in Ireland, Mr. Nafi Al-Rais Abdullah, yesterday at the Parliament headquarters.

The Irish parliamentarian stressed the sympathy of the Irish people and its various institutions with the issues of decolonization, especially the decolonization of Western Sahara, the last African colony.

The Sahrawi diplomat briefed his host on the historical, political and legal aspects of the Sahrawi issue and its current developments in light of the resumption of war after the Moroccan violation of the ceasefire agreement on November 13, 2020, after attacking Sahrawi civilians through the illegal breach in Guerguerat, amid a terrible international silence.

Mr. Nafi Al-Rais touched on the difficult humanitarian situation experienced by Sahrawi refugees as a result of weak capabilities and decreasing humanitarian aid.

The meeting also dealt with the hard situation in the occupied cities of Western Sahara, where Sahrawi people are subjected to daily oppression and abuse under the Moroccan occupation.
