Shaheed Al-Hafed, March 12, 2025 (SPS) - The German government has reiterated its steadfast stance on international legitimacy concerning Western Sahara, based on support for relevant United Nations resolutions.
This came in response from the German Foreign Ministry to a letter sent by the Western Sahara Freedom Association, in which the German government reaffirmed its commitment to international legitimacy and cooperation with the United Nations to achieve a fair and lasting solution, emphasizing its support for the personal envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura.
The statement also noted that the German government is aware of the ruling issued by the European Court of Justice on October 4 regarding fishing agreements between the European Union and Morocco and the necessity of respecting it.
Furthermore, the statement indicated that the German government is closely monitoring the situation in Western Sahara, stating that it contributes to providing support for the Sahrawi refugee camps and conducts field visits to assess the humanitarian situation there.
