Shaheed El-Hafed, January 23, 2025 (SPS) - Mr. Oubi Bushraya Bashir, the representative of the Polisario Front in Switzerland, the United Nations, and international organizations in Geneva, stated during a seminar titled "The Judicial Process in European Courts: Goals, Achievements, and Prospects" that the judicial process went through various stages, with each stage being a fundamental building block towards affirming the rights of the Sahrawi people and their sovereignty over their land and resources, and moving towards achieving further gains for the cause.
In this context, he addressed all the decisions issued by the European Court of Justice, which have formed a legal reference and confirmed that Western Sahara and Morocco are separate and distinct territories, asserting that the Sahrawi people hold sovereignty and the right to self-determination, and that the Polisario Front is the legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people and the necessity of obtaining the consent of the Sahrawi people for any agreements that encompass the territories of Western Sahara.
Mr. Oubi Bushraya also affirmed that the recent decision of the European Court of Justice definitively settled the issue of sovereignty and the legal status of the region, confirming that Morocco does not have sovereignty over Western Sahara and that the Sahrawi people are the rightful owners of their land, holding the full right to self-determination.
