Auserd (Refugee Camps), October 12, 2023 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, confirmed that the only agreement to resolve the conflict in Western Sahara is to complete the UN-African settlement plan agreed upon by both parties.
President Brahim Ghali, renewed in his speech during the celebrations commemorating the forty-eighth anniversary of the National Unity, the commitment of the Polisario Front to cooperate with the efforts of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his personal envoy to resolve the conflict with the Kingdom of Morocco, within a clear political and legal framework, consistent with international legitimacy, as an issue of decolonization that should be resolved by empowering the Sahrawi people with their right to independence, like all colonial countries and peoples through starting immediate completion of the 1991 African UN Settlement Plan, which is the only agreement that was signed by both parties to the conflict, the Sahrawi and Moroccan, and approved by the UN Security Council.
In the same context, President Brahim Ghali reminded the Spanish state of its legal, political and moral responsibility towards the Sahrawi people and their right to self-determination and independence, calling on the UN Security Council and the United Nations to end the illegal Moroccan military occupation of parts of our national territory, protect our people, their rights and natural resources, and lift the siege imposed on the occupied territories of our country.
