Brazil, October 13, 2024 (SPS)- The Brazilian Trade Union Federations (CTB) expressed its full solidarity with the Sahrawi people in their historic and just struggle to complete their sovereignty over their entire national territory.
The trade union group also expressed its satisfaction with the important victory achieved by the Sahrawi people and the ruling issued in favor of the Polisario Front by the European Court of Justice to annul trade and fishing agreements between the European Union and Morocco.
The statement signed by the President of the Brazilian Trade Union Federations, Adilson Araújo, said that the ruling of the European Court of Justice calls on the European Union to comply with the court's ruling, and in this context called on Brazil, one of the main buyers of phosphate stolen from Sahrawi lands, to stop its plunder of Sahrawi phosphate and to abide by international law.
The CTB highlighted in its statement, saying, "The European Court of Justice has confirmed the position of the International Criminal Court, the African Union and the United Nations, which adhere to the Sahrawi people's inalienable right to their natural resources, which have been unjustly and aggressively plundered by the Moroccan occupier since 1975."
The trade union group also condemned the crimes committed by the Moroccan occupation against the Sahrawi people, and called on the government of Lula da Silva to recognize the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
