Wilaya of Laayoune (refugee camps), October 12, 2024 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, affirmed that the decision of the European Court of Justice constitutes a victory for the Sahrawi people, calling on the European Union to comply with the decision of its judicial institution.

President Brahim Ghali, in his speech on the occasion of the celebration of the 49th anniversary of National Unity and the National Day of the Advisory Council, said that the ruling of the European Court of Justice is a great victory for the Sahrawi people, a victory for right, law, justice and legitimacy, noting that the shock was great on the Moroccan Makhzen regime, which created clear confusion within it, to the point that it denied any connection to the subject, although it is the second party in the agreements that are void by law, and the main party in an operation of robbery, assault, looting, theft and violation of the law.

The President of the Republic said that the matter has gone beyond the limits of politeness, ethics and decency, as the Makhzen publicly attacked the highest European judicial institution, not only by the expected rejection of the ruling, but by questioning the integrity of the judges, despising their competence and calling them superficial. He also explained that “Perhaps the Moroccan Foreign Minister and the Makhzen regime in general did not understand that there could be an honest judiciary, not controlled by systematic Moroccan bribery methods and not subject to blackmail, espionage via the Pegasus program and other methods”.

"But what is strangest, most reprehensible and even ridiculous is that a few days after the highest judicial body in Europe announced the complete and absolute denial of any Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara, that it and Morocco are two separate and distinct countries and that the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination is supreme and above all, the King of Morocco appears in his speech before his parliament yesterday, Friday, to claim that Macron's announcement of abandoning the requirements of international legitimacy and his support for the illegal Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara is a victory for "right and legitimacy", said President of the Republic, questioning “Has the King of Morocco forgotten that France is a European country and is obligated to respect the decisions of European justice? But it seems that Mohammed VI has inherited from Hassan II the ability to distort, fabricate and deceive, he who considered that the decision of the International Court of Justice in 1975 was in favor of his expansionist thesis, despite its complete clarity in its categorical denial of any Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara, and its explicit text on enabling the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination."

President Brahim Ghali confirmed that the Polisario Front expects from the European Union fully and strictly complies with the ruling of its supreme judicial institution, and that the Commission and the European Council correct the grave mistake of signing illegitimate agreements with the Moroccan occupying and expanding state, to plunder the wealth of a defenseless and oppressed people in a territory awaiting decolonization, and registered with the United Nations on this basis.

He pointed out that respect for international law, international humanitarian law and European law, and thus respect for the right of the Sahrawi people, which is not subject to prescription, negotiation or concession, to self-determination and independence, as the sole sovereign over the land and its wealth. He added that obtaining its approval in everything related to it, through its sole and legitimate representative, the Polisario Front, is the legitimate, practical and realistic way to resolve the Western Sahara conflict, and to ensure peace, stability and sound cooperation between Europe and its neighbors in the entire region.
