Chahid El-Hafed (Sahrawi Republic) 26 September 2024 (SPS) – The Sahrawi government condemned Morocco's obstinate stance and arrogance, which once again proves that the occupying state lacks any political will to move toward a just and lasting solution for decolonization.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Information, the Sahrawi government clarified that the remarks made by the Moroccan Prime Minister during the current session of the United Nations General Assembly are part of the escalation policy pursued by the Moroccan occupying state, which continues to fuel tensions and threatens peace, security, and stability in the entire region.

The government of the Sahrawi Republic strongly condemns the positions of obstinacy, rejection, and arrogance expressed in the speech of the Prime Minister of the Moroccan occupying state during the current session of the United Nations General Assembly. This once again proves that the occupying state lacks any political will to move toward a just and lasting solution for the decolonization of Western Sahara.
The statement made by the Moroccan occupying state is part of an escalation policy that increases tension and threatens peace, security, and stability throughout the region. What is referred to as the "principles" of the occupying state's position are merely excuses to justify its unwillingness to seriously and responsibly engage in the peace process led by the United Nations in Western Sahara.
The government of the Sahrawi Republic reaffirms that the UN-African settlement plan, which was accepted by both parties to the conflict—the Polisario Front and Morocco—in August 1988 and unanimously endorsed by the UN Security Council in its resolutions 658 (1990) and 690 (1991), remains the only practical and realistic solution based on consensus for the decolonization of Western Sahara.
Thus, the United Nations is called upon to take concrete and urgent steps to enable the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to fully implement its mandate as outlined in the UN-AU settlement plan by allowing the Sahrawi people to freely and fairly exercise their inalienable, non-negotiable, and imprescriptible right to self-determination and independence.
The government of the Sahrawi Republic also reaffirms the Sahrawi readiness to continue working with the United Nations and the African Union to reach a peaceful, just, and lasting solution to the conflict between the Sahrawi Republic and the Kingdom of Morocco, in accordance with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and the objectives and principles of the Constitutive Act of the African Union.
At the same time, the government of the Sahrawi Republic reaffirms the strong and steadfast determination of the Sahrawi people to continue their national struggle by all legitimate means, including armed struggle, until they achieve their non-negotiable goals of freedom, independence, and sovereignty over the entire territory of the Sahrawi Republic.
