Shahid El-Hafed (Sahrawi Republic) 23 September 2024 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Red Crescent confirmed that significant damage has affected homes and public buildings in Dakhla camp as a result of the rainfall in the Sahrawi refugee camps on September 22 and 23.
In a statement of which SPS obtained a copy, the Red Crescent clarified that the heavy rains in Dakhal refugee camp led to damages to the homes of some families, educational institutions, and the regional hospital, displacing around 350 families.
The statement also noted that a delegation from UN agencies and NGOs visited the camp to assess the damage.
The Sahrawi Red Crescent called on donors and humanitarian organizations to provide urgent assistance to Sahrawi refugees in Dakhla province. (SPS)
