Nouakchott, August 01, 2024 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, participated this Thursday morning in the investiture ceremony of the Mauritanian President-elect, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
During the investiture ceremony, which took place at the "Al-Murabitoun" International Conference Center in the capital, Nouakchott, the Mauritanian President took the constitutional oath, and he expressed in his speech his pride in the confidence of the Mauritanians, stressing that he is the president of all Mauritanians, regardless of their orientations.
The Mauritanian President-elect pledged to make the priority of ensuring the peace and stability of the country and consolidating national unity, stressing that the new mandate will be for the youth and their aspirations.
The Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani won the presidential election with 56.12% of the vote, while human rights activist Biram Ould Dah Abeid came in second with 22.10%, according to what the National Independent Electoral Commission announced on July 01, 2024.
