Shaheed Al Hafed, February 17, 2024 (SPS) - The Polisario Front has expressed its condemnation of the strategy pursued by the Spanish Foreign Minister, Mr. Jose Albarés, aimed at undermining the legitimacy of the Sahrawi cause.
The Polisario Front considered the recent statements of the Spanish Foreign Minister as lacking convincing foundations, especially when discussing the Sahrawi refugee camps, with the intent to sow doubts and undermine the global solidarity movement with the Sahrawi people.
In this regard, the representative of the Polisario Front in Spain, Mr. Abdullah Arabi, addressed the media, stating that "these out-of-context and rejected statements are part of a strategy aimed at continuing to obstruct the right of the people of Western Sahara to self-determination and independence."
The Sahrawi diplomat pointed out that "the recommendations mentioned, calling for refraining from traveling to the region and for Spanish travelers who can be dispensed with to leave at appropriate times," coincide with the remaining two weeks before the next edition of the international Sahara Marathon event held in the refugee camps.
He added that it is unreasonable, with the aim of preventing Spanish citizens from visiting the camps, for the head of Spanish diplomacy to invoke the issue of terrorism, which concerns the countries of the region, including the Sahrawi Republic, despite the fact that the African Union is making every effort to combat this phenomenon.
