Kampala, 20 January 2024 (SPS) - In a speech read on his behalf by Prime Minister, Nadir Larbaoui at the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) being held in the Ugandan capital Kampala on Friday, the President of the People`s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune , called for support for the right to self-determination of the people of Western Sahara, whose territories and wealth have been plundered in flagrant violation of international law, recalling the NAM’s rich history of solidarity with oppressed and colonized peoples, mirrored in its stance in support of just causes.

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune added that the Sahrawi people are also victims of attempts to alienate them from their just cause and their aspirations to hold a free and fair referendum, under international law and the relevant UN resolutions, in order to deprive them of their legitimate, intangible and imprescriptible rights.

He also urged intensified collective efforts to support the Palestinian cause and make the voice of justice heard.
