Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), 6 November 2026 (SPS) – The Polisario Front is participating with a high-level delegation in the Second African Political Parties Conference, held in Addis Ababa from 5 to 7 November under the theme, “Governance for Growth: Political Parties as Architects of Africa’s Economic Future.”

The Sahrawi delegation is headed by Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, Minister of State, Diplomatic Adviser to the Presidency and Head of the Polisario Front’s External Relations Committee, accompanied by Ambassador Maalainin Lakhal, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Sahrawi Republic to Ethiopia and the African Union.

The conference brings together representatives of African political parties, government officials, continental institutions and civil society organizations to discuss the role of political parties in shaping public policies, strengthening democratic governance and advancing Africa’s economic and social transformation.

Discussions focus on economic transformation, industrialization, agriculture, trade, employment, infrastructure development, natural resource management, regional integration, peace and security, and the future of democratic institutions in Africa. Participants are also addressing emerging challenges related to artificial intelligence and disinformation.

The conference is expected to conclude with the adoption of the Addis Ababa Declaration on Political Parties and Economic Transformation in Africa, alongside the launch of the African Initiative for Political Parties and the establishment of its institutional framework and future programme of action.

The Polisario Front’s participation reflects its continued engagement in African political and institutional forums and its commitment to strengthening dialogue and cooperation with African political forces on shared challenges, particularly development, stability, respect for peoples’ sovereignty over their resources and their right to determine their political and economic future.
