Italy, August 22, 2026 (SPS) – A group of Sahrawi children taking part in the “Vacaciones en Paz 2026” (Holidays in Peace 2026) summer programme arrived at the Sahrawi refugee camps on Saturday morning, after spending their summer holiday in several regions across Italy.
The Sahrawi children were seen off at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome–Fiumicino by the Representative of the Polisario Front in Italy, Fatima El Mahfoud, the President of the Network of Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, Valentina Roversi, members of solidarity associations, as well as their Italian host families.
The programme, organized by the Polisario Front Representation in Italy and the Network of Solidarity Associations with the Sahrawi People, with the participation of Italian organizations, municipalities and families, enabled the Sahrawi children to enjoy a pleasant summer holiday and take part in a range of engaging cultural and recreational activities.
During their stay, the children were warmly welcomed and provided with suitable conditions by host families and solidarity associations, who opened their homes to them as an expression of their solidarity with and support for the Sahrawi people and their struggle. The Polisario Front Representation in Italy also played a central role in coordinating the programme and accompanying the children throughout their stay.
