Rome (Italy), 31 July 2026 (SPS) – Sahrawi children spending their summer holidays in Italy were honored with a special reception at the Italian Parliament.
The reception served as an opportunity to reaffirm support and solidarity with the just Sahrawi cause, while also highlighting the importance of the Holidays in Peace program, through which Sahrawi children spend their summer vacation in Italy away from the extreme heat of the refugee camps.
The event was attended by Italian members of parliament, the Polisario Front Representative in Italy, the President of the Sahrawi Network, as well as representatives of associations, municipalities, and local organizations involved in hosting the Sahrawi children.
During the meeting, participants underscored the importance of cooperation among institutions, associations, host families, and Italian civil society in support of the Sahrawi people.
The Little Ambassadors of Peace initiative was described as more than just a summer hosting program; it also provides healthcare, promotes cultural exchange, and raises awareness about the question of Western Sahara.
The hosting of Sahrawi children is supported by a broad network of associations, host families, municipalities, and local organizations across Italy.
