Blida (Algeria), June 24, 2026 (SPS) – The University of Blida in Algeria organized a solidarity day with the Sahrawi cause under the slogan “A Continuing Struggle for Freedom and Dignity,” in coordination with the Sahrawi Embassy in Algiers.

The event was attended by National Secretariat member, Ambassador of the Sahrawi Republic to Algeria, Khatri Addouh, the university dean, the president of the Algerian National Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, as well as political figures, representatives of Algeria’s Ministry of Higher Education, civil society organizations, professors, students, and Sahrawi citizens residing in Algeria.

The solidarity day featured a series of lectures delivered by academics and university professors covering various aspects of the Sahrawi issue, including: the Sahrawi question between international legitimacy and political settlement approaches; the role of social media in defending the Sahrawi cause; the illegal exploitation of the natural resources of the Sahrawi Republic; and the role of Sahrawi women in resisting occupation.

In his address on the occasion, Ambassador Khatri Addouh reaffirmed the Sahrawi people's commitment to their fundamental rights to freedom and independence, and their rejection of any solutions or initiatives that bypass international legitimacy and its provisions guaranteeing the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and independence. He recalled that after fifty years of struggle, resistance, and sacrifice in pursuit of their legitimate rights, the Sahrawi people remain more determined than ever to continue their victorious march until those rights are fully achieved.

For his part, University Director Professor Amer Bashir reiterated Algeria’s support for the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination, in line with the principles of Algeria’s glorious November 1 Revolution.
