Shaheed El-Hafed, April 6, 2026 (SPS) – A delegation from the Balearic Islands has begun a visit to the institutions of the Sahrawi State to observe the functioning of Sahrawi institutions in the context of the dual struggle of liberation and state-building.
The delegation was received by the President of the National Council and member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Bachir Mustapha Sayed, who welcomed the Balearic parliamentary delegation and praised the solidarity work carried out by the Spanish solidarity movement, including various political forces and civil society actors. He commended their contribution to raising awareness about the just Sahrawi cause and their support for the legitimate struggle of the Sahrawi people for self-determination, freedom, and independence.
The President of the National Council also addressed the role of the National Council in the political life of the Sahrawi Republic, highlighting the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing parliamentary relations and promoting the Sahrawi cause in various parliamentary forums in Spain and worldwide.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in parliamentary work, humanitarian support for Sahrawi refugees, and raising awareness about the human rights situation in the occupied territories, as well as Moroccan violations against Sahrawis and civilian prisoners in prisons of the occupation.
For their part, the members of the parliamentary delegation affirmed that their visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps comes within the framework of solidarity with the Sahrawi people, reiterating their support for the Sahrawi cause and their commitment to stand alongside the Sahrawi people until they achieve their legitimate goals of freedom.
