Algiers, March 8, 2026 (SPS) – The Ambassador of South Africa to Algeria, Mr. Ndumiso Ntshinga, reaffirmed his country’s position supporting the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.
This came during his reception by the Sahrawi Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, at the headquarters of the Sahrawi Embassy in Algiers, in the presence of National Secretariat member Khatri Addouh, Ambassador to Algeria.
The meeting addressed bilateral relations between the two countries, developments in the Sahrawi issue, as well as regional and international situations.
It also provided an opportunity for South Africa to reiterate its firm commitment to defending the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination, in line with the sacred principles that form the foundation of South Africa’s foreign policy.
For his part, the Sahrawi Minister of Foreign Affairs praised South Africa’s positions and its support for the struggle of the Sahrawi people to obtain their legitimate rights to freedom and independence, recalling the struggles and sacrifices of the South African people for their own independence, as well as South Africa’s role in defending the causes of peoples seeking liberation and in protecting international law and legitimacy.
