Canary Islands (Spain), July 19, 2025 (SPS) – A group of Sahrawi children arrived yesterday, Friday, at Gran Canaria Airport, coming from the Sahrawi refugee camps as part of the summer program Holidays in Peace.

They will spend nearly two months with their host families in the Canary Islands, as has been the tradition since the program's inception.

Upon their arrival at the airport, the children received a warm welcome attended by representatives from the municipalities where they will spend their summer holidays—including Telde and Teror—members of the Polisario Front’s representation in the Canary Islands, heads of friendship associations with the Sahrawi people in the archipelago, host families, members of Canarian solidarity movements, and several media outlets that highlighted the event.

The program embodies the bonds of brotherhood, support, and solidarity with the Sahrawi people in their just struggle for freedom and national independence, which they continue to receive from the Canarian authorities and society at large.

On the same day, a similarly warm and special reception was held for another group of Sahrawi children upon their arrival in Tenerife, where they will also spend their summer holidays.
