Algiers, June 27, 2025 (SPS) – The Algerian newspaper El Moudjahid celebrated its 60th founding anniversary in a ceremony presided over by Algeria’s Minister of Communication, Mohamed Laïd Mazi. Among the attendees was Khatri Adouh, member of the National Secretariat and Sahrawi Ambassador to Algeria.

The event was an opportunity to reflect on the history and journey of El Moudjahid, which has consistently supported liberation movements, particularly the Sahrawi and Palestinian causes. A documentary screening and an exhibition of photographs and press articles highlighted the newspaper’s steadfast coverage of the Sahrawi and Palestinian struggles, as well as its unwavering defense of the two peoples' legitimate rights to freedom and independence, alongside Algeria’s own resistance against French colonialism.

The occasion also allowed the Sahrawi ambassador to meet with several officials, media directors, and journalists, engaging in discussions and giving interviews on El Moudjahid’s historical role in raising awareness about the Sahrawi people’s struggle.

In his speech, the Algerian Minister of Communication described El Moudjahid as a "media school" that laid the foundation for Algeria’s national press and upheld noble principles in defending just causes. He emphasized its role in preserving the historical legacy of the martyrs, the values of the November 1st Revolution, and Algeria’s long history of sacrifices for a free and independent nation.

The ceremony, held at the Palais de la Culture Moufdi Zakaria, was attended by Minister Mohamed Laïd Mazi, other government officials, media figures, and a host of journalists and media professionals.
