National Council, June 22, 2026 (SPS) – Mr. Ahmed Baba Hayai, Director of Information and Awareness at the Ministry of Public Health, delivered a lecture on Monday at the headquarters of the National Council entitled “Health: Foundation and Development”, as part of the proceedings of the National Council’s Spring Session.
In his presentation, the lecturer reviewed the establishment and evolution of the Sahrawi health sector, highlighting the different stages it has undergone since the founding of the institutions of the Sahrawi State, as well as the efforts made to meet the healthcare needs of citizens despite the exceptional circumstances experienced by the Sahrawi people.
Mr. Hayai emphasized that the health sector has been a fundamental priority from the outset, through the implementation of preventive policies and health programs aimed at protecting society and promoting disease prevention. He noted that these policies have contributed to preventing the spread of epidemics and widespread infectious diseases within the Sahrawi community.
He also discussed the development of medical and health training programs, stressing the importance of investing in human resources and strengthening national capacities to ensure the continuity and improvement of healthcare services.
The lecture further addressed the cooperation established with partner organizations and institutions in the health sector, and the role they have played in supporting health programs, enhancing capacities, and improving services provided to citizens.
