Chahid El Hafed (Sahrawi Refugee Camps), May 18, 2026 (SPS)– The headquarters of the Sahrawi Women’s Team for Mine Action Support hosted a visit by an African Union delegation composed of experts in landmines and explosive remnants of war, with the aim of learning about the work of the group active in the field of mine action.
The visit began with a welcoming address delivered by the team’s coordinator, who greeted the members of the delegation and underscored the importance of the visit in strengthening cooperation and recognizing the efforts undertaken in the field of mine action and mine-risk awareness.
The delegation also toured a special exhibition documenting the team’s work since its establishment, during which detailed explanations were provided regarding the various activities and initiatives carried out by the team in support of mine action.
On the occasion, introductory presentations were delivered on the team’s objectives and achievements, in addition to its future plans and programs aimed at strengthening the role of Sahrawi women in this important humanitarian field.
At the conclusion of the visit, the African Union delegation expressed its great appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Sahrawi women’s team and voiced its admiration for this pioneering experience of women’s work in the field. (SPS)
