Bogotá (Colombia), April 10, 2026 (SPS) – Sahrawi Ambassador Mohamed Ali Ali Salem presented his credentials to Colombian President, H.E. Mr. Gustavo Petro, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sahrawi Republic to Colombia.
The credential presentation ceremony took place at the Casa de Nariño in the capital, Bogotá, in accordance with established procedures and protocols. During the ceremony, Ambassador Mohamed Ali Ali Salem reviewed units of the Colombian guard, who paid him an honor salute.
Since taking office in 2022, Gustavo Petro ordered the immediate restoration of full diplomatic relations with the Sahrawi Republic, as one of his first foreign policy initiatives upon assuming leadership of the South American country.
