Ivry-sur-Seine (France), April 11, 2026 (SPS) – The mayor of Ivry-sur-Seine, Philippe Bouyssou, reaffirmed his city’s “full and unwavering” support for the Sahrawi people on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).

In a message on Wednesday, the French mayor praised “50 years of resistance, courage, and dignity in the struggle for freedom” of the Sahrawi people, while renewing the solidarity of the municipality of Ivry-sur-Seine.

The mayor also highlighted the cooperative relations linking his city with the Daira of Mijek, formalized through a friendship and cooperation agreement signed in 2022, emphasizing that they reflect a constant commitment to defending fundamental rights.

Mr. Bouyssou stated that the city will continue its solidarity actions, particularly by hosting Sahrawi refugee children—an initiative carried out for more than 15 years—as well as supporting awareness-raising activities by associations advocating for the rights of the Sahrawi people and the release of political prisoners.

The mayor of Ivry-sur-Seine also reiterated his municipality’s commitment to the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, in accordance with international law and United Nations resolutions.
