Arab delegations reiterate solidarity and support for Sahrawi people

Shaheed El-Hafed, February 4, 2026 (SPS) – The Arab delegations participating in the fourth edition of the Arab Conference in Solidarity with the Sahrawi People renewed their support and solidarity with the Sahrawi people and their just cause.

In this context, Mr. Nader Al-Qaisi, representative of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in Algeria, reaffirmed the Front’s firm solidarity and support for the struggle of the Sahrawi people, considering that the struggle of the Palestinian and Sahrawi peoples is a shared one for freedom, independence, and self-determination.

Al-Qaisi added that the steadfastness of the Sahrawi people in the refugee camps has conveyed the justice of the Sahrawi cause to the world, stressing the need for unity in struggle and confrontation against occupation until decisive victory is achieved.

For his part, Dr. Ismail Debesh, a member of the Algerian Committee in Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, affirmed that participation in the Arab Coference in Solidarity with the Sahrawi People represents an opportunity to renew and reaffirm steadfast positions supporting the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy.

Debesh added that Algeria will remain faithful to its firm principles and positions supporting the right of peoples to self-determination, foremost among them the Sahrawi people. He stressed that Algeria, having suffered the hardships and atrocities of colonialism, fully understands the value of freedom and the right of colonized peoples to liberation. Based on this deep-rooted conviction, he reiterated that Algeria will continue to honor its commitment until the Sahrawi people achieve their legitimate aspirations of building their independent state, the Sahrawi Republic, on their own land.

The Algerian historian and researcher, Professor Mohamed Doumir, also renewed his support for the Sahrawi people and their just cause, affirming the justice of the Sahrawi issue and noting that the steadfastness of the Sahrawi people necessitates finding a solution that guarantees them their legitimate right to freedom and self-determination.

The Arab Conference in Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and lasting two days, is attended by politicians, researchers, activists, and media professionals from Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Mauritania, Palestine, and Oman.
