Shaheed Al-Hafed, January 6, 2026 (SPS) – The National Council held a plenary session today, Tuesday, chaired by member of the National Secretariat, Speaker of the National Council, Mr. Hamma Salama, with the attendance of members of both the legislative and executive bodies.
The session was devoted to reviewing the work of the National Council’s specialized committees with the executive sectors in discussing the draft government program for 2026 and the main amendments and proposals submitted to enrich the government’s annual program in light of the evaluations and concerns expressed.
During the session, the National Council’s committees presented draft programs for their respective specialized sectors after discussion and agreement on the version submitted to the plenary session, in order to finalize the government’s annual program before presenting it for a vote, in accordance with the organic law regulating the work of the National Council as well as the functional relationship between the National Council and the government.
After presenting the content of the government’s annual program for 2026, the floor was opened to interventions by members of the National Council, who emphasized the need to address the concerns expressed during the annual evaluation in various areas of government work within the new program.
After all interventions were completed, the opportunity was given to the government to finalize the program in its final form within a period of 48 hours, in accordance with the organic law.
It should be recalled that the agenda of the autumn session included the annual evaluation of the government’s 2025 program as well as the presentation and approval of the government’s 2026 program.
