National Media Day: Emphasizing significance of sector and commitment to supporting it

Shaheed El-Hafed, 28 December 2025 (SPS) – The media community celebrated today, Sunday, the National Media Day at the headquarters of the Media Archive, in the presence of the Minister of Information, Hamada Salma, along with members of the National Secretariat, the government, and the National Council, in addition to the Sahrawi media community.

The day began with a speech by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Information, Mr. Hamdi Mayara, in which he congratulated the media community and stressed its continued role in accompanying the battle for liberation and nation-building, and in confronting the fierce Moroccan media war.

He pointed out that the occasion is an opportunity to evaluate media performance by searching for plans and strategies to keep pace with modern information warfare and the confrontations required by the current stage.

For his part, the Central Director of National Radio, Mr. Bashir Daif, extended his congratulations to the workers in the “mother of media outlets” on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its founding, in recognition of their efforts to convey the voice of the Sahrawi people despite challenges and difficulties.

A documentary film was presented reviewing 50 years since the establishment of the National Radio, along with recorded testimonies from staff members who played a key role in accompanying the Sahrawi media journey.

A book was also presented that addresses the process of founding the National Radio, authored by journalist and former National Radio director Mohamed Fadel El-Hayt.

Tributes were also given to directorates of the ministry and some employees working at National Radio, in addition to organizing solidarity stand with the masses in the occupied territories and the fighters of the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army.
