Nairobi (Kenya), 19 December 2025 (SPS) – The ordinary session of the African Union Ministers of Justice meeting, known as the Specialized Technical Committee on Justice, Legal, Constitutional Affairs and Human Rights, concluded Thursday in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, with the participation of a Sahrawi delegation led by the Minister for Relations with Parliament, Mohamed Fadel Ali Bouya Rasheed.
The session was chaired by the Tanzanian Minister of Justice, Dr Juma Zuberi Homera, and attended by representatives of 38 member states.
During the session, Ministers of Justice and Legal Affairs examined draft versions of several important legal instruments, including the draft Model Law on Factoring, the draft Statute of the African Monetary Institute, the draft Model Law on the Regulation of Medical Products, as well as the draft amended Statute of the African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council.
The Ministers of Justice adopted the aforementioned draft legal instruments and submitted recommendations thereon to the Executive Council and the African Union Summit, scheduled to be held in February 2026.
The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic was represented at the ministers’ meetings, alongside the Minister, by Alla Sidi Hamad, Chargé d’Affaires of the Sahrawi Embassy in Nairobi, and Judge Hussein Saadbuh, who represented the Sahrawi Republic during the experts’ meetings held from 8 to 15 December.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Sahrawi minister held several consultations with Ministers of Justice and heads of participating delegations.
