Madrid (Spain), 07 December 2025 (SPS) — Several organizations and political parties in Spain that support the Sahrawi people have launched an awareness campaign regarding agricultural products originating from occupied Western Sahara, which are marketed in European countries as “Moroccan” products.
This practice constitutes a blatant violation of the rulings of the European Court of Justice issued on 4 October 2024, which affirmed that Morocco has no sovereignty over Western Sahara.
As part of this campaign, video clips have been produced to highlight the risks of the recent agreement between Morocco and the European Union concerning “commercial misrepresentation” related to products coming from occupied Western Sahara, even though the European Court of Justice has confirmed the need to label these products with their actual “country of origin” (Western Sahara).
These organizations denounced the authorization to label products coming from occupied Western Sahara as “Moroccan,” despite the fact that this contradicts the judgments of the European Court of Justice.
They also praised the Spanish parties that defend the Spanish agricultural sector against this unfair competition and that struggle for respect of international law and for the organization of a self-determination referendum for the Sahrawi people.
