Kampala (Uganda), September 4, 2025 (SPS) - Makerere University, Uganda's largest university, hosted a lecture on the Western Sahara issue.

The lecture was attended by several ambassadors accredited in Kampala, including the ambassadors of Algeria, Cuba, and Venezuela, members of the Ugandan Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, representatives from African political parties, and over 300 participants.

The lecture was delivered by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Sahrawi Embassy in Kampala, Mr. Mohamed Ali Mohamed Daf. He provided a comprehensive assessment of the history of Western Sahara, from the Spanish colonial era to the Moroccan occupation through its brutal invasion of the territory.

The Sahrawi diplomat highlighted relevant resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly from 1960 and 1963, as well as the findings of the Fact-Finding Mission in 1975, the ruling of the International Court of Justice in 1975, and the legal advisory opinion issued by the same court in 1975.

He also discussed the Settlement Plan since 1991 and the relevant resolutions and decisions issued by the United Nations and the Security Council.

Mr. Mohamed Ali also emphasized the rulings of the European Court of Justice (ECJ), which he noted have consistently demonstrated that there are no historical links between the Kingdom of Morocco or Mauritania and Western Sahara.
