Boumerdès, August 4, 2025 (SPS) – Algerian academic and lecturer Dr. Ismail Debache addressed, on Monday at the lecture hall of Mohamed Bougara University in Boumerdès, the methods employed by colonialism to maintain its domination over peoples and suppress liberation revolutions.

The Algerian academic, in a lecture titled "Liberation Revolutions and the Undermining of Colonialism: Decolonization in International Law – The Case of Western Sahara" delivered during the second day of the Summer University for Executives of the Polisario Front and the Sahrawi State, reviewed colonial tactics in several countries across Africa, Latin America, and the East Indies, as well as campaigns of settler colonialism and racist colonialism.

The lecturer highlighted the colonial objectives of the Moroccan occupation in Western Sahara due to its economic importance, strategic location, and natural resources, which have historically made the Sahrawi State a target of colonial powers' ambitions.

The lecturer concluded that the will of peoples throughout history has proven stronger than the domination of colonial powers, thwarting all their schemes as their influence dwindled in the face of the tide of liberation.

He stated that it is legally illogical for colonialism to demand a consensual solution or to raise the slogan of "no victor, no vanquished," because the defeat of colonialism is inevitable, no matter how prolonged its duration or varied its elements and methods.

The lecturer noted that "the Sahrawi revolution distinguished itself by not aligning with any party, as its goal remained the liberation of the land and the restoration of the Sahrawi State’s sovereignty in accordance with international legitimacy, and the eradication of colonialism from the last colony in Africa."
