Acireale, Catania (Sicily) – August 2, 2025 (SPS) – The Italian city of Acireale dedicated a day to celebrating Sahrawi culture, reflecting the solidarity and commitment that bind the city to the struggle of the Sahrawi people. The event was attended by Sahrawi children spending their summer in the city as part of the Holidays in Peace program.

This cultural day aimed to introduce the Italian public to the traditions and unique identity of the Sahrawi people, while highlighting their legitimate struggle for freedom and self-determination.

The festivities featured an authentic Sahrawi tent, adorned with traditional colors and displays of handicrafts, clothing, and everyday objects that reflect Sahrawi heritage. Attendees enjoyed traditional music, folk dances, poetry, and the symbolic ritual of Sahrawi tea preparation—a sacred moment embodying hospitality, resilience, and human connection.

The event closed with a clear message: Sahrawi culture is alive and remains a powerful tool for resistance, preserving memory, and building bridges between peoples.
