Algiers, July 22, 2025 (SPS) – Mr. Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, affirmed that Morocco openly refuses to honor its commitments and pledges signed with the Sahrawi party.

During a press conference held today, Tuesday, at the Sahrawi Embassy in Algiers, concerning the latest developments in the national issue, Mohamed Yeslem Beissat stated: "For thirty years, the Organization of African Unity (OAU), now the African Union, along with the United Nations, have continued to work towards finding a just and peaceful solution to this conflict. He noted, "We, along with Morocco, accepted the UN-African settlement plan and jointly signed the Houston agreements. However, unfortunately, Morocco openly and flagrantly refused to honor its signed commitments and pledges, which are included in the UN Security Council resolutions."

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs added, "We participated in good faith in many negotiations that Morocco continued to evade and procrastinate in order to derail them."

Mohamed Yeslem Beissat pointed out that Morocco has no intention of finding a solution, nor does it have a project for a solution. All it currently has is a premeditated maneuver to waste time and delay the referendum, and thus delay the peace process, which is a path to integration, development, and integration in the Maghreb region and in Africa.
