Algiers, July 22, 2025 (SPS) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, affirmed that Morocco lacks the sincere political will to seek a serious solution to the conflict in Western Sahara.
During a press conference held today, Tuesday, at the Sahrawi Embassy in Algiers, addressing national and Algerian media on the latest developments in the Sahrawi issue, Mohamed Yeslem Beissat stressed that Morocco lacks the genuine political will to seriously pursue a real solution to the Western Sahara issue.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs added that the Moroccan government’s actions starkly contradict its statements. On one hand, it claims to seek a solution, while on the other, it escalates war, intensifies repression, increases the plundering of resources, and invests in demonizing the Sahrawi people and their sole legitimate representative, the Polisario Front.
Mohamed Yeslem Beissat pointed out that this behavior exposes the Moroccan government’s true intentions in choosing a strategy of stagnation and buying time to legitimize its illegal occupation—an occupation condemned by international norms and laws and rejected by all regional and international courts.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that if Morocco truly wants a solution, the shortest path is to implement its signed and documented commitments, as enshrined in the resolutions of the UN Security Council, the International Court of Justice, the African Court of Justice, and the Court of Justice of the European Union.
