Mexico City, May 10, 2025 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Ambassador to Mexico, Mokhtar Lebeihi, was received today, Saturday, at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Dr. Eduardo Jaramillo Navarrete, General Director for the United Nations of the Mexican Secretariat of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the Sahrawi ambassador highlighted the grave and alarming situation of human rights violations in Western Sahara, stressing that the Moroccan occupation state continues to commit serious abuses, particularly against those who participate in peaceful protests and face brutal repression. Ambassador Lebeihi also emphasized that the occupation authorities expel international observers, confiscate land, and engage in the illegal plundering of Sahrawi natural resources.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to promoting and defending human rights at the international level, underscoring the urgent need to establish effective mechanisms to protect oppressed peoples in conflict situations involving foreign occupation - particularly the people of Western Sahara, a territory that has yet to complete its decolonization process.
