Activities organized in France to promote Sahrawi culture and history

Bordeaux (France), April 8, 2025 (SPS) – The French city of Bordeaux and its surrounding areas hosted a series of significant activities on Monday to promote the culture and history of the Sahrawi people. The event, organized by the Sahrawi community association in Bordeaux, allowed attendees to explore exhibitions showcasing the rich Sahrawi heritage while also highlighting the Sahrawi people’s legitimate struggle for self-determination and independence. 

The cultural event saw broad participation from members of the Sahrawi community residing in Bordeaux and nearby areas, as well as a notable turnout from French citizens, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and political figures. 

For the occasion, two traditional Sahrawi jaimas (tents) were set up, reflecting the customs and lifestyle of Western Sahara’s society. A rich photographic exhibition was also organized, documenting key moments in Sahrawi history and its struggle, alongside a display of traditional Sahrawi crafts that captivated visitors. 

The large number of attendees also enjoyed musical and artistic performances, including traditional Sahrawi songs and dances, which showcased the depth and authenticity of Sahrawi culture.
